Welcome! The Appalachian Studies Center provides students a unique opportunity to engage in the arts, history, music and nature of Southern Appalachia through community service learning, undergraduate research and creative activities. The Center is located in the historic Vickery House across from Price Memorial Hall.

New minor in Appalachian Studies

North Georgia is the first university in the state to offer a minor in Appalachian Studies. This multidisciplinary minor provides students with an understanding of the culture, economy, history, natural resources, and politics of Appalachia and how these concepts impact and influence contemporary Appalachian communities.     Public events at Vickery House

    TUES May 22: "Preserving Appalachia." Art exhibition and reception for Lumpkin County High School students in Ms. Julie Hogan's art class. 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Free. No reservations required.

    Thursdays from 12:30 to 2 pm: Picking Porch Old Time Music Jam
