Georgia Appalachian Studies Center
Living and Learning the Appalachian Story

Welcome to the state's official center for the study of Appalachia as designated by the Georgia General Assembly in 2005.

North Georgia College & State University provides a unique opportunity for students to discover the arts, history, music and nature of Southern Appalachia through community engagement, service learning, undergraduate research and creative activities. The Center is located on campus across the street from Price Memorial Hall in the Historic Vickery House.

New minor in Appalachian Studies

North Georgia is also the first university in the state to offer a Minor in Appalachian Studies. This multidisciplinary minor provides students with an understanding of the culture, economy, history, natural resources, and politics of Appalachia and how these concepts impact and influence contemporary Appalachian communities.
