College of Education:
North Georgia offers undergraduate programs in Early Childhood/Special Education (Grades P-5th), Middle Grades (4th-8th), Secondary (grades 6-12) fields of English, History, Math, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and programs leading to P-12 certification in Art, Music and Physical Education. More details on the Teacher Education Programs are available in our Undergraduate Bulletin).
- Early Childhood / Special Education (P-5) Program
The program offers a dual major in early childhood and special education, preparing students to work in both fields in grades P-5. The junior and senior years of the program are conducted in selected schools, requiring full-year clinical placements that also include academic course work. - Middle Grades (4-8) Program
The Middle level program prepares students to work in grades 4-8. Middle Grades students select two teaching field concentrations (Math, Science, Social Studies, or Language Arts). All middle grades cohorts begin in the fall semester. During the fall placement of the senior year, students are assigned to selected area schools and expected to attend preplanning along with the classroom teachers. ATTENTION:
Effective Spring 2010, The University
System of Georgia (USG) institutions are no longer accepting any of the
following courses to fulfill the course requirement in Area F for
Education majors:
EDUC 2000, EDUC 2001, EDUC 2002, SPED 2100, and PSYC
2103.
These courses cannot be used in Area F. In order to satisfy Area
F requirements at USG institutions, including North Georgia College and
State University, you must complete EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120, and EDUC
2130.
