Does the cost of the trip include food?

 

No food is provided for single day trips or hikes. We do suggest that you bring some kind of snack that can be eaten on during the trip. For multi-day trips, food is also not provided. If you don't know what kind of food to bring, please ask us. We can give you some good ideas on what kind and how much food to bring.

Is gear provided for trips?

                

Yes, we provide all gear necessary for any trip. This includes tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, camp stoves, and backpacks. For any other questions on gear you might need for trips, please contact northgeorgiaoutdoorpursuits@gmail.com.

How can I sign-up for a trip?

                

Signing-up for a trip can be done at the Rec Center Offices. Half the price of the trip is due when you sign-up. The other half is due on the payment deadline. You may reserve your spot on a trip with this form, but you must pay the half of the trip money one week after you reserve your spot. If you do not pay one week after the date you reserved your spot, you will be dropped from the trip, but you can still sign up later. Reservations can only be confirmed once you have paid for the trip.

What should I bring for hikes?

                

Definitely bring clothes and shoes that are comfortable and can get dirty. Things that you should bring on every hike include, but are not limited to: insect repellent, water, sunscreen, a rain jacket, and snacks like Clif Bars or granola bars. A small backpack is also suggested for day hikes to carry things, your book bag will often suffice. We suggest bringing at least 64 ounces of water on any hiking trip. Trip leaders will have water filters on hikes and, provided that there is a water source, will be able to refill water. For multi-day hikes we suggest bringing a change of clothes appropriate for the current seasonal temperatures, a headlamp or flashlight, and food for meals (dehydrated meals often are best because they are light weight and easy to cook outdoors).

Will trips get cancelled because of weather?

                

Trips can be cancelled because of bad weather. We will notify you if a trip has been cancelled 48 hours in advance. Hikes will generally not be cancelled because of rain, but in the case that a hike is cancelled, you will be notified.

How can adventure trip prices decrease?

                

Often the third party vendors we use for some trips offer group discounts. When a trip fills to maximum capacity at 14, some trips will decrease from the listed price because we will then be eligible for these group discounts. The discount will be given to you when you make your final payment.
