Ropes Course
The Dean Hyams Leadership Center & Ropes Course
The course was constructed in May 1990, at the Pine Valley Recreation Facility by Project Adventure, Inc. The course was designed by H. Michael Hyams, Jr., Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, with the goal of developing leadership skills in University of North Georgia students through challenging adventure activities.
The course consists of both low and high ropes elements. Generally, low ropes are used for team building as well as a great way for a group to come together and become better acquainted. Low ropes elements often target development of skills within a group such as leadership, communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and planning. Involvement in high ropes activities also bonds groups together through having a shared adventure experience.
