University of North Georgia Testing Center Security Procedures

                  

University of North Georgia Testing Center security procedures for all examinees are in effect in order to provide professional standards in testing services that reflect positively on the University. The Testing Center maintains membership with and adheres to guidelines set forth by the National College Testing Association (NCTA). The College Testing Center at the Stewart Center is required contractually to maintain the strictest possible security procedures to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the tests given.

Upon arriving at the Testing Center:

  • You will need to show at least one valid photo ID confirming your identity.
  • You will be asked to read the Test Center’s rules agreeing to the security terms of the administration of the examination. You will be asked to sign your name and indicate the time in the test center roster prior to entering the testing room confirming you have read and agreed to such terms.
  • You will be provided a secure, individual storage locker for your personal belongings; many items are prohibited from the testing room. See the list of prohibited items below.
  • You will be asked to empty and turn your pockets inside out to confirm that you have no prohibited items.
  • Your photo will be taken before entry into the testing room and kept as a photo record of your attendance.

Upon completion of the registration process, you will be escorted to a computer workstation or a testing room where the Test Administrator will launch your examination. The only items you will be permitted to bring into the testing room include:

  • photo ID
  • storage locker key
  • test permit
  • credit/debit card (if required)
  • items approved by Testing Center and verified by Test Administrator on day of test

What photo ID will I need?

At least one form of acceptable photo identification is required for admission to the Testing Center. The identification must be current and include a recent photograph and signature. If the photo identification is not signed, a second form of identification with a signature must also be presented. Those who do not present acceptable identification will not be permitted to take the examination. Identification documentation may be captured and validated to determine authenticity.

PLEASE NOTE: Falsifying information required for admission to the examination or impersonating another examinee is strictly prohibited.

Acceptable forms of primary identification include but are not limited to:

  • A valid (not expired) government-issued driver's license with your photograph and signature (Candidates who do not drive may have an identification card issued by the agency    that also issues driver's licenses.)
  • A valid (not expired) government-issued identification card with your photograph and signature
  • A valid (not expired) government-issued passport with your photograph and signature
  • A valid (not expired) United States military identification card with your photograph and signature    

Unacceptable forms of primary identification include but are not limited to:

  • A Social Security card 
  • A United States permanent residence card (green card)
  • A credit, debit, or ATM card

IMPORTANT: The name on the current identification must exactly match the name listed on the test application or registration records. Example: If a name is listed as Jane Jones on the test application or registration records, and the legal name is Jane Jones Smith, identification must also list the name as Jane Jones (or Jane Jones Smith). If the presented identification reflects only the name Jane Smith, she would not be allowed to sit for the examination.

What items are prohibited in the testing room?

  • Calculators (unless with prior approval and examined on test day by Test Administrator )
  • Watches
  • Recording devices
  • Photographic equipment
  • Study materials
  • Cellular telephones
  • PDAs (personal digital assistants)
  • Purses
  • Wallets
  • Sun glasses or eyeglass case
  • Pagers
  • Hats and other head coverings, except those for religious purposes
  • Coats
  • Bags (plastic, paper or cloth)
  • Jewelry items that are wider than ¼ inch (1cm) are not permitted unless candidate is wearing an item which he/she claims cannot physically be removed.
  • Pens and pencils
  • Beverages
  • Food
  • Tobacco products
  • Any other product determined by the Test Administrator to be a disturbance to other testers or a threat to the security of the examination.

PLEASE NOTE: The use of any medical device such as an asthma inhaler or insulin pump within the examination room, must be pre-approved by the Test Center prior to scheduling your examination appointment.

 

*Additional Security Procedures for Prometric Test Center.

The Prometric Test  Center, will be using hand-held metal detector wands. All candidates will be scanned prior to each entry into the test room, including returns from breaks. Candidates will still be required to turn their pockets out, and the scan will be done immediately afterward. The scan will be done in full view of the TCA DVR camera so it will be recorded, and any candidate complaints or escalations can be properly investigated. All candidates will be required to submit to the scans. Any candidates refusing to be scanned will not be permitted to test. CPRs will be filed for any irregularities or escalations regarding the use of the wands.
